Purpose and goal:
The aim of this project was to increase collaboration between Region Västmanland and Mälardalens Universitet’s research environment Embedded System, to promote interdisciplinary research-based innovation for future health care. The project goals included: To increase the parties´ understanding of the clinical context and health technology; to generate collaborative projects; and to support the parties to exchange perspectives in ways that result in joint learning.
Based on the project´s results and effects, the project´s aim and objective are considered to be fulfilled. Expected results and effects:
The project´s expected results and effects (Activities increasing the parties´ understanding of each other´s objectives, driving forces, conditions and creating a common basis for continued collaboration were executed; A project steering group with representating both parties was establised; Proposals for continued collaboration were developed; The project manager’s resources for value-creating research and innovation was strengthened by new competences and perspectives, deepened understanding of clinical context and expanded network) are considered to be fulfilled.
Approach and implementation:
The project manager spent 20% of her working time in the region conducting a field study on fall prevention clinical practice and context at the orthopedic clinic, as well as organizing activities with staff from both organizations to identify common areas of interest, stimulate knowledge exchange and joint learning, and promote the development of project proposals and models for continued cooperation. Dissemination of results to the parties and to the research community was also included. The arrangement worked well, the implementation mainly went according to plan.
