Purpose and goal:
The Environment and Work project aimed to promote ecological and social sustainable innovation by educating and developing the skills of young individuals, creating green entry-level jobs, and spreading new sustainable methods to property owners and the
construction industry. Goals included educating 55 youths in cool roofing technique, employing 20 environmental ambassadors, and developing an innovative roof database and cool roofing product, all of which have been successfully achieved. Expected results and effects:
The project has enhanced cool roofing expertise in Sweden via courses in cool roofing-technique. By employing 20 environmental ambassadors from marginalized areas we have boosted their job market competitiveness. Climate Week reduced climate anxiety
and inspired youth. The project also resulted in 86 000 registered roofs in the database, and an eco-friendly cool roofing paint, approved by building materials assessment, both with potential to contribute to sustainable urban development. Approach and implementation:
The cool roofing paint we used during the courses was not environmentally friendly when the project started. Doing Good, Thermo-Logic, and Selena Group collaborated to develop an eco-friendly paint. It is now on the market and was used during the courses. Climate Week evolved from involving only environmental organizations to various
experts from the private, non-profit, and research sectors. The roof database transitioned from being Excel-based to an online database. AI integration is planned.
