Food security is a pressing concern exacerbated by climate change.
Climate change impacts on food production spread across borders through global supply chains, which are characterized by complex networks of actors, sectors, and geographical regions.
Food security thus constitutes a major climate change adaptation challenge that requires international cooperation, which has also been recognized in the 2015 Paris Agreement.
However, scholars have yet to systematically map and explain the role of international cooperation in alleviating climate change risks for food security. This project will address this knowledge gap by describing and analyzing international cooperation intended to reduce climate risks for food security.
The project will uniquely combine different literatures on international cooperation, food security and climate change risk.
In doing so, it will add new insights by linking the simultaneous governance of climate change adaptation and global food systems.
Using several new datasets, the project will examine the performance of international cooperation on the climate-food linkage using network methods.
Thereby, the project will generate new knowledge on the performance of international cooperation in alleviating climate change risks for food security, and will support finding practical solutions for a better-integrated climate risk management by Swedish actors and its international cooperation partners.
