Purpose and goal:
The purpose and goal of the project is to develop a new technology for continuous flow measurement based on a fiber optic hybrid cable and to lay the foundations for its commercialization. The technology should provide new opportunities for real-time measurements to be used as decision support for the optimization of e.g. power units. The technology is also considered to be interesting for other energy applications and process industries.
The goal is to commercialize the technology and lead to new products and services for Habia Cable and Geosigma. Expected results and effects: The project is expected to result in: -sensor cable designs have been developed and their properties have been tested in the lab -industrial processes for hybrid cables and prototype sensors have been developed
-a developed analysis method for real-time determination of flow velocity has been developed and implemented in a control and readout device -a good assessment of needed technical development to reach the market.
Expected effects are that the collaboration between partners has increased and industrial partners have good opportunities to develop new products and services. Approach and implementation: The main focus is on designing, developing and manufacturing a robust sensor cable with associated simple
instrumentation as well as verification of the system´s function in the lab and test bed in realistic conditions. The verification requires the development of simple data models for flow analysis, which is also part of the project.
The development will take place iteratively with simulations, experiments on cables and tests in a lab environment. Promising cable prototypes and instrumentation will be installed and evaluated in realistic conditions in the industrial test beds.
