The purpose of this research program, integrated in the Southeastern region in Sweden (pop. 1.35 million), is to develop frontline informatics resources combined with leading edge modelling methods for real-time evaluation of COVID-19 vaccination in Sweden.
Building on a unique and well-established research environment spanning the technical and medical faculties as well as the healthcare regions, the program aims to combine high-quality input data with forefront technologies and analysis techniques to inform evaluations of vaccine coverage, safety, and effectiveness.Specifically, we aim employ international frontline systems modelling and machine learning methods to evaluate:Vaccination coverage (WP 1) considering outreach to socioeconomic groups and vaccine hesitancy.Vaccine safety and adverse effects (WP 2) considering age, ethnicity, other personal characteristics; and previous and current morbidity.Vaccine effectiveness (WP 3) considering magnitude and duration of individual-level protection; previous and current morbidity; and herd immunity.The material and immaterial outcomes of the research will be made available for national-level phase IV evaluations and for clinical studies.
The study adheres to the FAIR Guiding principles for data management through semantically describing the content and provenance of data using shared ontologies.
All research data that according to Swedish legislation can be shared will be published at the COVID-19 Data Portal Sweden.
