The Nordic Network for Gifted Education (NNGE) represents all five Nordic countries, building on existing collaboration to promote research in the field of inclusive gifted education in Nordic contexts. The three research questions and projects are: How can we identify gifted students in Nordic education contexts?
How can talent development be facilitated by differentiation, in inclusive Nordic classrooms? What can we learn from Nordic out-of-school provisions for gifted students?
The 2022-24 grant enables members to meet in 2022 to share Nordic ideas, strategies and resources with regard to these three questions, and to plan research trials or pilots.
In 2023, a contestable network fund provides support for network members to visit other Nordic countries to learn, share and research in the three projects. In 2024, a mini-conference is planned.
A dissemination strategy includes special issues in Nordic and international journals, seminars and conference presentations. The project applicant and leader is Margrain (SE).
Country coordinators are critical to this collaboration: participating researchers Westling Allodi (SE) and Tirri (FI), and research partners Þórólfsson (IS), Nissen (DK) and Idsøe (NO). The wider network begins with 20-30 members and will rise to at least 50 members.
Sustainability is addressed through online website development, online meetings, distributed leadership, ongoing research and publication strategies.
