Purpose and goal:
In order to be competitive in the future, Industry 4.0 is a necessary step for Swedish industry. The goal of the I-Stamp project has therefore been to create an intelligent and sustainable stamping process.
Central to the Project was the development of active shims, implementation of laser sensors to measure the flow of material and an intelligent control system. All parts were developed and tested successfully.
The time for validation was not sufficient, which is why only manual reading and control of actuators could be carried out in a production environment. Expected results and effects:
Time for validation was not sufficient, which is why intelligent control could not be applied in a production environment. However, manual reading and control of material flow worked flawlessly in a production environment. Actuators and sensors mean that adjustments can be made during ongoing production. The developed system is thus expected to increase the OEE number by 5% and reduce the amount of scrap by 50%. However, this could not be validated during the project period.
Approach and implementation:
The I-Stamp project was implemented in four stages. In the first step, requirements specifications for systems and demonstrators were drawn up. In the next step, the project´s innovations were developed in the form of control systems, actuators and sensor technology.
These were integrated in step 3 and thereby validated in a lab environment. Time for validation was not sufficient, which is why intelligent control could not be implemented in a production environment. However, manual reading and control of indentation worked flawlessly in a production environment
