The purpose of this project is to build upon the experiences and digital capabilities that has been established in the project “Connected Construction Sites” (Uppkopplad byggplats) and based on that generate examples of digital transformation of construction sites.
A crucial part of the project is also to manage and disseminate the knowledge developed during the Connected Construction Sites project. The now proposed project is centred around two focused testbed projects that will scale up and exemplify digital transformation on the project level.
Connected to these testbed projects are an open digital exhibition and an industry forum to generate a road map and future actions for digital transformation on the industry level.
The academic research and involvement in the projects ensure legitimacy, neutrality, and objectivity in the knowledge generation and also that the knowledge is disseminated on a larger scale, to project participants, the industry and to students. The project is regarded strategically important for the built environment sector in Sweden and has a great potential to be a beacon for the sector, exemplifying the crucial digital transformation.
The project’s focus on the digital transformation on construction sites is unique, and establishes strategic conditions to improve productivity, a safer working environment, sustainable processes, as well as nurturing the evolving eco system of collaborating organisations with a common goal: to improve and digitally transform construction sites.
Hence, the project addresses many of the pinpointed goals and effects within the Smart Built Environment research programme. The project is strategic in the sense that many companies and organisation jointly address a challenge that is crucial for the sector, co-operates both within and between industry segments, and are open to disseminate the knowledge and the experience gained during the project to the sector at large.
