Purpose and goal:
The main aim of SwAIPP is to establish a cross-sector environment for internationally leading research, innovation, clinical translation and implementation of clinical AI-based precision pathology to radically improve the diagnostic process for cancer patients. The environment will establish Sweden as a leading actor in AI-based Precision Pathology globally, enabling new opportunities to develop leading businesses and attract investment in research and development in Sweden.
Expected results and effects:
To establish a detailed route to clinical translation for AI-based precision pathology, develop; validate, demonstrate and implement several AI-precision diagnostic solutions at scale in
a real-world clinical setting; establish a world class precision health environment for innovation and collaboration between academia, healthcare, and industry and to substantially reduce diagnostic errors and improve treatment decisions for cancer patients by AI-based precision pathology in a cost effective and sustainable way.
Approach and implementation:
SwAIPP bring together all key stakeholders in the domain and will initially use breast cancer as the primary implementation case and focus on all aspects necessary for clinical implementation and real-world testing at scale, including usability tests, validation, regulatory compliance, equipment and IT infrastructure and integration, end-user testing and validation, health economics and perspectives from healthcare professionals as well as patient representatives.
