Purpose and goal:
The project has resulted in recommendations for how multifunctional solutions can be implemented and interact for maximum social benefit and cost-effectiveness. New models have been developed and tested to enable collaboration and decision regarding distribution of responsibilities and costs. The project has achieved its aim and objective of creating better conditions for the implementation of efficient and sustainable climate adaptation in the already built environment.
Expected results and effects:
The project has resulted in the development and implementation of new tools, models and knowledge regarding multifunctional climate adaptation measures in the built environment. These tools, models and knowledge have great potential to be applied and adapted by other Swedish cities, as most cities are faced with the same need for multi-functional measures in a densely populated city, and where the distribution of responsibility for the measures involves several societal actors. The great interest in the project and its final seminar testifies to this very fact.
Approach and implementation:
The project has worked with over 10 case studies from Stockholm and Västerås. The work has been focused on a number of aspects of the climate adaptation process: 1) allocation of cost and responsibility between the parties involved, 2) design of multifunctional solutions for cloudbursts and heat waves, 3) methods to evaluate and prioritize climate adaptation measures and 4) follow-up and control using sensors and sensor data, 5) the legal possibilities and obstacles for climate adaptation of societal functions.
