Affordable housing: realising co-housing and co-living for economically vulnerable groups

There is a severe lack of affordable housing in Sweden which impacts on living conditions and opportunities for groups with weaker economy.

In various European countries, collaborative housing (CH) have delivered affordable and high-quality housing in numerous settings.

The objectives of this project is (a) to gather, analyse and synthesize previous experiences regarding affordable CH; (b) to turn this knowledge into the shaping and implementation of projects for affordable CH in one or more Swedish municipalities; and (c) to collaboratively reflect on project progress and results in support of the projects implemented and for a wider upscaling and implementation of affordable CH in Sweden.

The project consortium is a mix of researchers and practitioners, with a focus on civil society actors.

Participants have been engaged in numerous research focusing on affordable housing and have extensive experiences from leading large projects, including international collaborations.

Project results will include; A state-of-the-art of experiences with relevance for affordable CH in Sweden (WP1); Initiated implementation of at least one established CH initiative (WP2); A formative evaluation of these activities and national capacity building in support of future upscaling, presented in an international academic journal (WP3); Dissemination in the form of web page, social media, video material, popular science newsletters, policy brief and public presentations (WP4).
