Purpose and goal: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
Street Moves 2 has transformed street spaces in collaboration with six municipalities: Hultsfred, Härnösand, Södertälje, Gothenburg, Helsingborg, and Umeå. The processes and outcomes are documented at streetmoves.arkdes.se. In surveys in Hultsfred, Härnösand, and Södertälje, 81% support the idea of altering streets with temporary solutions like Street Moves.
The Swedish results have led to collaborative testing of Street Moves´ methods for needs analysis and sketching processes with San José, California, in the fall of 2023. Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
The project´s six participating municipalities have demonstrated that it is swift and relatively simple to transform a car-dominated street into a space that generates more values than just traffic. Surveys and interviews conducted with the municipalities highlight increased capacity to handle change processes as well as improved networks. Street Moves is expanding in scope, experience, and knowledge from city to city, approaching a shift in how streets are designed.
Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
The municipalities collaborated in local project groups, working with self-selected, or by project coordinator ArkDes, assigned design teams. Various local, national, private, and public stakeholders, including experts, have been integrated in the design process. Temporary street prototypes, with broad resident engagement, enabled exploring what works on each street.
Dissemination occurred through streetmoves.arkdes.se, presentations at two international and fourteen national conferences, and through 54 media publications.
