Innovation and digitalization of the book fair

The purpose - to strengthen the Book Fair´s digital offering and increase the attractiveness and accessibility of Bokmässan Play - was fulfilled by a good margin of the project. With the help of Vinnova´s support, 33 pre-recorded interviews were conducted with authors from around the world in a virtual studio environment, more than 110 seminars were translated and subtitled, and Bokmässan Play was developed and stabilized. The target of the number of accesses was not met, while other objectives were reached or exceeded.

The overall effect of the project is that the Book Fair is recovering from the pandemic years and has further broadened the platform. After 2021, Bokmässan Play has been established as a service for the future, where viewers can take part in high-quality Swedish and international author talks. The book fair now reaches all of Sweden - and beyond.

The combination of tre14´s technical competence and the Book Fair´s position created good conditions for conducting a large number of digital interviews in a virtual studio environment. In collaboration with Swedish publishers, world-renowned authors were booked. In addition, about a hundred seminars were selected for subtitling into Swedish, and ten for translation into five languages by the company Plint.

The fact that the project did not reach the display goals is probably due to a number of factors, such as price, "digital fatigue" etc.
