Sweden is generally lagging behind other countries when it comes to the application of AI within city planning as well as within the construction and real estate sectors.
Whilst AI provides an opportunity to generate both smarter and more sustainable solutions, the sector is nowhere near taking advantage of its potential. Tests or trials often take place on a smaller scale without being mainstreamed.
One of the main reasons for this is a low level of knowledge of AI as well as a lack of specialist AI competences within organisations. It is against this background that this project has been formulated. The project has multiple objectives.
Among the most important is to form a knowledge platform for AI that creates insight among the sector´s stakeholders that form the basis for applying AI on a broader scale.
Another is to bring national and international stakeholders together in order to build new and stronger ecosystems both in Sweden and abroad. Another objective is to inform future investments in the area of AI on behalf of Smart Built Environment.
In order to reach these objectives, a number of key activities are planned, including use cases, application support, external monitoring, an AI Arena, national and international collaboration activities.
The use cases include to develop and test practical AI solutions together with stakeholders, including AI specialists, in the areas of planning and real estate management.
The goal is to develop scalable solutions that create business and societal benefits and where experiences are shared openly and transparently to order to inspire others.
All in all, the activities contribute to an increased knowledge and a broader shift towards utilising AI in companies within the sector. The following application describes the implementation phase of this strategic project. It builds upon a previous application for the start-up phase that was implemented between November 2020 and April 2021.
