Policy lab for pharmaceutical services

Purpose and goal:

TLV has the government´s assignment to, via a policy lab, carry out a trial operation with a community pharmnacy service. The services aim to increase compliance with prescribed treatment. The aim is to report to the government which services have an effect on the use of medicines, propose a reimbursement model and a regulatory framework for public reimbursement, and.

Expected results and effects:

In 2021, roles and working methods have been established in the policy lab and workshops have been conducted to identify needs, map system perspectives and reimbursement models. These elements provide good conditions for a successful trial operation, which starts in 2022. Approach and implementation:

We have had good support from design process consultants in planning and conducting a number of workshops with key stakeholders. We have identified patients´ needs for support in use of medicines, explored different reimbursement models, analyzed the systems perspective around community pharmacy services, agreed on a joint mission, and also conducted internal and external workshops and webinars to use as many perspectives as possible in development of community pharmacy services for the trial.
