Manufacturing R&D Cluster Conference 2021

Purpose and goal:

On 5-6 May, the 2021 edition of the Manufacturing R&D Cluster Conference was held with the theme: Sustainable manufacturing - green value chains. The conference set a new record with 485 participants. Expected results and effects:

The conference structure and theme were expected to provide a more concrete picture of what companies´ needs are in sustainability, in order to create R & D within the gaps that were identified. As many researchers attended the conference, and gained insight in the objectives of the different cluster presidents, it is likely that the contacts were made following the conference which has now led to approved projects.

Approach and implementation:

The digital implementation with a more concrete follow-up of the previous conference´s sustainability theme had good effects on the cluster activities and the industry´s idea generation. How can the manufacturing industry solve the climate goals? That was the theme of the Manufacturing R&D Cluster Conference. Representatives from Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, FKG and Scania shared their experiences from the transition to a more sustainable production.

In addition, the participants could take part in a number of parallel sessions, arranged by the various clusters.
