Purpose and goal:
The goal of the project has been to enable the transition to renewable energy through improved risk management and adaptive security.
We have contributed to fulfilling this objective by increasing knowledge about flexible services in the energy sector and which security risks can arise if these are not designed correctly. We have developed new risk management methods that are adapted to dynamic systems where critical infrastructure meets cloud services and small-scale energy systems. We have also demonstrated how cloud-based monitoring can contribute to increased security.
Expected results and effects:
The project has resulted in guidelines for the safe introduction of new digital services in the energy sector, an adaptive risk method that is adapted for cloud-based energy systems, and a new tool for cloud-based monitoring. These can help increase the security of cloud-based energy systems. A study on the safety of electric car charging has been published at an international conference and the project results have been disseminated to stakeholders in the sector through workshops and conferences, contributing to increased knowledge of challenges and solutions.
Approach and implementation:
The collaboration between academia, research institutes and industry has worked well in the project as it has resulted in scientific results, dissemination among those in need and development of commercial products that contribute to increased security and Sweden´s competitiveness. A challenge within the sector as a whole is that much of the new development of new services is done by smaller actors who find it difficult to devote large resources to security work. We will study possible cooperation models to meet this challenge in a follow-up project.
