SIO Grafen Phase 3

Purpose and goal: SIO Grafen takes the materials of the future, graphene and other 2D materials, from lab to industry.

The vision of the strategic innovation program is that Sweden should be one of the world´s ten leading countries in developing and using graphene industrially by 2030.

The foundation for a Swedish area of strenght and a national ecosystem for graphene has been laid in the work in phase 1 and 2, from 2014 to 2020. In phase 3, the Swedish graphene industry is taken to the next level. Expected results and effects:

SIO Grafen offers Swedish companies opportunities to accelerate the creations of commercial applications using the outstanding properties of graphene / 2D material. During 2021 - 2023, SIO Grafen plans two open calls per year. I phase 3, the Ecosystem graphene will be enlarged by involving more companies and individuals.

We will support the development of industrially relevant standards for quality assurance. Our international profile will be strengthened.

An open and inclusive innovation area is an important prerequisite for success in making Sweden a leading graphene nation. Approach and implementation:

SIO Grafen´s board, with representatives from industry, academia and research, is responsible for the strategic management. SIO Grafen is run by the program office at Chalmers Industriteknik, with operational responsibility for the program. The board and the program office have an equal participation of women and men.

Projects from open calls is the largest part of the programme´s budget. These are complemented by strategic project. The project catalog should contain more challenging project that take big steps and project that have greater potential to reach the market quickly.
