Desalination with industrial waste heat

Purpose and goal:

This project aimed to commercialize our new desalination technology that can purify seawater using residual heat. Unfortunately, some time into the project we noticed that the market was not ready to pay more for clean water and we had to change our focus. We succeeded in redesigning the technology to treat hazardous waste and industrial process water instead of seawater and today see it as a better deal both for the environment and the company´s growth potential.

We expected to be able to reach the market with our technology in 2022 on a large scale and have unfortunately seen that this journey will require somewhat longer time. The challenges of scaling up to series production of large industrial equipment and establishing ourselves in a new branch have meant that we had to postpone our objective to 2023.

We may have underestimated the difficulty of introducing a new technology in a new market, which led to delays in meeting our high objective. At the same time, we are very pleased that this difficult challenge has forced us as a company to reevaluate our technology and its market opportunities, which has led us into a completely new area of use with greater environmental benefit.
