Purpose and goal:
The use of AI in edge computing is entering a new era with an increase in data management from connected smaller devices. The aim of the project is to develop self-organizing, energy-efficient, and privacy-protecting hardware and software components in artificial intelligence (AI) for increased edge technology utilization in European industry.
Expected results and effects:
The project will focus on European values for a new system with a focus on self-organization, integrity through design, and low energy use. By developing both decentralized AI and relevant architecture, DAIS will solve the problem of running existing AI algorithms on several scattered edge devices. With 47 parties from eleven different countries, the DAIS project will promote collaboration between large industrial actors, innovation-driven smaller companies, and research.
Approach and implementation:
The project activities are organized around eight different value chains. Five value chains will develop and deliver the hardware and software required to run industry-specific AI using different network topologies. The other three value chains will apply and validate the technology in different application areas and demonstrate how common challenges can be handled. All value chains will report results through various work packages developed to directly affect industry standards.
