While a rapid development of quantitative research methods has been observed internationally to support social and behavioural research, Swedish researchers in education are slow to exploit these developments. Progress was made in the first school for Quantitative Research Methods (QRM) financed by VR (Dnr: 2017-03686).
However, the shortage of competence in quantitative methods still remains large, which has affected the quantity and quality of educational research and in particular the possibilities to knowledge transfer to new generations of researchers.
The second phase of the School of Quantitative Research Methods in Education (QRM-II) continues to offer doctoral students and researchers both basic and advanced specialized quantitative research methods, with a wider range of courses and workshops collaborated with more partners.
The QRM-II consists of regularly recurring courses covering the three fundamental areas: design, measurement and analysis; workshops, a yearly conference and activities to form a sustainable QRM-network.
Three strong research environments are involved in QRM-II: University of Gothenburg, Umeå University and Uppsala University, among which ample competence is available for delivering quantitative courses, seminars and organizing conferences and networking.
QRM-II takes advantage of knowledge and competence in different disciplines and from other countries, with the ambition to serve as a platform for national and international collaboration.
