Research on collaboration in teacher education (ROCIT) expands knowledge of professional practice among teacher trainers in transverse environments.
The research graduate school explores intersections between practices, enabling existing knowledge, abilities and approaches to be reinterpreted, modified and reconstructed in relation to the context in which the knowledge is used.
Equal value is placed on scholarship and proven experience, which while different in character, are nonetheless complementary. This enhances teacher training in active collaboration between universities and schools.
The initiative contributes to innovation and development of the teacher education programs enriching the capacity of key stakeholders.
This is vital at a time when teacher shortages are acute and simultaneously demands for a scholarly foundation have increased.Today´s challenges require that traditional disciplines in the educational sciences be coupled with perspectives from other fields such as teacher training, the teaching profession and school development.
Current Teacher Education in Sweden must develop a research collaboration between Teacher Education, teacher educators, schools and teachers to address these challenges.Teacher trainers resulting from the initiative will support both new and more experienced teachers in their professional practice, problematizing and evaluating professional learning and enhancing the cooperation between academia and school practice.
