Upscaling Rawstraw

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of this project was to initiate an increased production capacity of Rawstraw’s natural sustainable drinking straws. The goal was to streamline the existing production while focusing on exploring the possibilities of future automation. By doing so, the company aspires to become the market leader in the Swedish market and reach more and larger customers with its sustainable drinking straws.

Expected results and effects:

The result of the following project is that Rawstraw today has an established production with the possibility of international expansion where the potential for automation is feasible in the near future. This will be further explored and Rawstraw aims to be the leading player in the Swedish market to develop a mechanical production of natural straws. As a result, Rawstraw expects to be able to reach more and larger customers around the country with its products, while remaining competitive.

Approach and implementation:

The project was carried out in two stages. The first step involved a short-term upscaling of the production and its capacity. In this way, Rawstraw was able to reach more customers and increase sales at the same time as step two was initiated. This part focused on examining the possibilities for an automation of the current production. This was accomplished with the help of Rawstraw´s two founders, Elise and Josephine, as project managers, working closely together with an external partner.
