Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The objective of the project and the business is to define a new industrial standard for safe, automatic, affordable, scalable and sustainable inspection of essential infrastructure without emissions using AI-automated satellite analysis.

The project ran in 2021 and was completed in the autumn with good results. The tasked and completed main activities have mainly revolved around validation, launch and scaling of software solutions. Expected results and effects:

During the project, we inspected approximately 5,000 km of infrastructure. This infrastructure therefore does not need to be inspected by either helicopters or drones, which means many tons of carbon dioxide emissions avoided and a great validation of impact and value creation.

Thanks to processes and partnerships established during the project, the service can now be offered globally and help to tackle global warming and extreme weather. Approach and implementation:

The project has proceeded faster but it also became more expensive than expected. All excess costs have been paid for by the company´s own operations.

Satellite data and AI-automated image analysis are areas undergoing rapid technological development. This is a challenge when innovation takes place in between and with customers who have not yet embraced the new technology.
