Purpose and goal:
The project focused on validating and assessing the technical, commercial and financial feasibility of an innovative filter unit - the MEBB prototype. The filter unit aims to clean water-based heating and cooling systems of existing buildings, while the heating systems are in operation. The unit takes away impurities from the piping system and heating elements, increasing the heat transfer and allowing a better operation of the different system elements.
Expected results and effects:
- the reduction of energy demand: this has a direct impact in the heating/cooling cost and the overall building carbon emissions; - the increasing of water flow in heating and cooling systems;
- lower operational costs: maintenance service providers can minimise maintenance actions and, as a possible consequence, can diminish costs for building owners (and possibly rents and fees for residents);
- lower environmental impact: our solution drastically decreases the need for chemicals and new components in maintenance. Approach and implementation: The project results helped Heation AB to understand: 1) technical feasibility of producing, installing and running the MEBB system in an operational environment;
2) commercial feasibility about the existence of a market potential and customer segment ready or willing to use the MEBB system;
3) financial feasibility about the sustainability of the sales plan and profit margin, in the context of the company operations plan.
