Grant Description

Our goal is to increase knowledge about research results among problem owners working with enabling easy and safe cycling.

We have identified knowledge gaps and needs among our target groups; officials and politicians, both at municipal, regional, and national levels, as well as with potential research funders.

Filling those gaps would also increase politicians’ and funders’ understanding of the need for research and thereby, hopefully, facilitate funding for future research.

Higher competence in the bicycle area would improve all decisions in sustainable urban planning, contribute to increased and safe cycling, improve traffic safety in general, increase public health through reduced obesity and lifestyle related health issues, in short, to contribute to several of the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals.

Therefore, we see this project as a "key project" that will enable faster development in this area. The results we intend to share come from our network of bicycle researchers, from Luleå university of technology in the north to Lund university in the south, where bicycle researchers are eager to collaborate for a wider spreading of bicycle research results. The project aims to develop an educational platform or virtual learning environment[1] where we gather research results in our network and adapt to the intended target groups.

Our idea is to offer problem owners at different levels, the opportunity to stay well-informed about bicycle related research and facilitate their daily work and make well-informed decisions.

The key is also that the format is web-based and therefore cost-effective for both the organizer and the participants and easily accessible regardless of where in the country one is based and regardless of individual, physical or financial abilities. [1] A virtual learning environment (VLE) is used as a complement to traditional education, e-learning and flexible learning.

It is a platform made up by several courses, where each course can be described as a virtual classroom, where teachers and students in a course can communicate safely with protected documents. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A4rplattform 2021-02-01
