Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project was to investigate stakeholders, develop a business model and produce a go-to-market strategy, specifically for recombinant milk protein production. This has resulted in a step-by-step go-to-market strategy that is divided into 1) upscaling (cost reduction) first and 2) product uniqueness (differentiation). The assessment has led to the conclusion that upscaling creates the most long-term value for the innovation.
Expected results and effects:
We have received a letter-of-intent with a large international cheese producer with an indication for price point. In addition to this, we have also managed to tie up a production partner that can assist in scaling up (> 10,000 tonnes). We will be able to run a pilot at the beginning of 2022 (Q1) and then start building a production facility and start selling our first application in 2022.
Approach and implementation:
The project was conducted through over 70 meetings and discussion, 3 conferences and other workshops and seminars. The stakeholder analysis and business model was further enabled by participation in EIT Food Seedbed Incubator. Go-to-market strategy is now a clear and focused step-wise play to scale (cost minimization) and then differentiate (revenue maximization).
