Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project was to analyze the market for mobile data collection equipment and to develop a concept for a scalable mobile NAS based on modern technology. In the development of Autonomous vehicles, very large amounts of data are collected for analysis. By using the most modern technology, the project has created a system that can be scaled from 1 to 24 nvme units and thus enable collection units for a few GB up to 700 TB.
Expected results and effects:
The project has resulted in a concept where the choice of components can control the size of the entire unit. The technology will be the same for a small system as for one with a very large capacity. The analysis gave the results two different uses. It was planned with a collection unit for very large amounts of data, but also a need for the type of black box in aircraft.

The project began with a survey of some selected customers in the segment the survey showed two different needs. The concept can be used for both applications with small changes. The data collection unit for the test environment must have interchangeable cassettes with disks.
In the concept of large amounts of data, there are currently three cassettes with 8 disks in each. In the case of the black box, the same size is not needed, but the unit itself must have a more robust enclosure so that it is not destroyed in the event of a. accident.
