Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

TED (Terminal charging by Elektriska Distributionsfordon)) is a system solution and business model for fully electrified freight terminals. This includes modeling and optimization of local electricity generation and local electrical energy storage balanced against a predicted charging need for a fully electrified truck fleet at DHL in Västberga, other electricity needs at the terminal and the available electricity network capacity per hour over years. The project covers business models, the ecosystem of actors and its roles in the solution.

Expected results and effects:

A system solution has been developed for DHL´s freight terminal in Västberga with the scenario of a fully electrified vehicle fleet. A business model for cooperation has been developed with real estate companies, energy companies, transport companies and subcontractors, vehicle manufacturers and haulage companies which are applied in the solution.

The results are generally transferable to other freight terminals and to the phased implementation of electrified vehicles in freight terminals and can form the basis for investments. Approach and implementation:

The project has been carried out with real data as input values in the form of today´s diesel consumption in the vehicle fleet converted to the corresponding electricity consumption, the terminal´s internal energy needs and the capacity (power) of network connections today and possible upgrade. From this, modeling has been carried out. The modeling is based on component costs and a system optimization for the needs above as well as scheduling for an energy management system. Business modeling has taken place in collaboration with the actors in the ecosystem.
