This project explores the ambivalences surrounding sexual health and migration, and how these are negotiated, reinforced and challenged by different actors in the educational system.
Moreover, by combining ethnography with participatory media production and narrative methods, our purpose is to examine the possibility of social solidarity and affect change, not only for young people with experiences of migration but also for professionals in the educational system.
The aims is to promote health literacy, critical reflection as well as skills for working with fundamental values and issues of sexual health and wellbeing within school contexts, but also critically assess such processes. The perspectives of the young people are documented through life story interviews as well as participatory methods.
Moreover, boundary objects produced by the youth will enable a process of sense making and dialogue between the youth and the professionals who work with them in the education system.
The overall methodology will generate data otherwise hard to obtain, as well as enabling arenas for critical reflection and dialogue.
The project´s transdisciplinary design allows for both a greater agency for the young people in formulating concerns of their own, and empirical, methodological and theoretical investigations into the conditions of social solidarity between the youth and professionals.
