Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The project, in collaboration between regions, patients, technology companies, the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical distributors, has tested a self-monitoring system for specialist care in cancer care and has demonstrated strengthened autonomy and security for patients. By creating understanding between users for the prevailing needs, PACE has contributed to; the transformation towards increased autonomy for cancer patients, moving specialist care closer to home and better clinical results. Results: digital support creates value for patients and employees.

Expected results and effects:

The project´s results point to the fact that; the patient/relative provides better health and improves methods/processes for strengthened autonomy, self-care, readiness for action and security; the profession provides increased understanding and faster reactions if the treatment does not work, which can provide increased survival, a better working environment, reduced administration; the care organization can reduce the number of physical appointments, admissions and improve capacity.

Approach and implementation:

PACE is a multi-actor collaboration; region, patients, technology companies, pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical distributor. Since 2020, there has been a development where several regions procure systems for self-monitoring and develop support. The project has been based on an existing technical solution where proposals for content, through co-design, have been developed with patients/relatives and employees.

The focus has been on the more intensive part of the treatment when the individual is in care. The work has been evaluated through interviews with all actors.
