Purpose and goal:
The project has linked expertise in vehicle technology and automation, energy supply, business models and agriculture to take on the challenge of producing food with minimal climate impact. The project has acquired knowledge of the actors in the value chain through their active role in the project. Based on that knowledge and opportunities, obstacles and strategic analysis, solutions have been simulated.
An electric, driverless tractor including implements with an energy distribution system was demonstrating the subsystem. Expected results and effects:
The project has been based on the results of the pre-study eFarm Steg 1 and aims to develop a sustainable machine system including energy distribution for agriculture. The work with simulation and strategic analysis has resulted in a basis for concept selection, which has also been demonstrated through a complete subsystem. The project has also gained greater understanding of which challenges and needs must be addressed through the system solution and that new business models are required.
Approach and implementation:
The project work has been carried out in different work packages. A simulation model using real data has been built to compare different concepts. The result has been validated by the project participants, including the farmers.
The choice of concept is based on several aspects such as scalability and legal issues. The technology has been demonstrated through the subsystem containing an electric, driverless tractor including implements and energy distribution system. New business models have been addressed to respond to the climate challenges.
