Affordable living - Coliving for Elderly Women

Purpose and goal:

Develop a new alternative in the housing market, shared housing, based on the needs of elderly women and their financial capacity. By charing areas and functions, it will be possible for target group, which hasn´t so far been prioritized, to be able to demand a qualitative and economically available home. The housing form will also break the isolation and lonelyness that many people experience today.

The project is intended to be realized in step 3. Expected results and effects:

"Max 4 lax" has resulted in a buildable prototype for coliving for the target group. The housing form will contribute to a more resource-efficient housing development, broadening the supply and strengthening residential social qualities. Climate analysis has verified the climat efficiensy in both construction and management. In a system level the broadened supply can result in existing homes beeing available for more efficient use.

Regulations that are not adapted to the new housing form have been identified, which provides opportunities for a review. Approach and implementation:

Based on a real case in Uppsala, and through a creative collaboration within a transdisciplinary proejct team, the projekct can take a holisitc approach to both the housing and systems perspective. Collaboration with authorities, organizations and target group representatives enables a broad analysis and solution proposals. Through workshops with target groups, housing and service development have been designed.

Comparative climate calculation shows resource efficiency. Participation in seminars and benchmarks has provided both input and dissemination of results.
