The present application aims to enhance stronger reciprocal of reciprocity between Swedish researchers and educators/teachers of different disciplinary backgrounds (education, psychology, and neuroscience) interested in the emerging field of educational neuroscience, and to establish collaboration amongst those researchers whereby multidisciplinary research applications can take form.
This aim is to be operationalized by exploratory and thematically organized workshops. The problem concerns the lack of knowledge of educational neuroscience research and experience of randomized /experimental studies among a majority of researchers/educators in the Swedish academy interested in the development and learning of children, youth, and adults.
From an educational perspective, it seems critical to ensure that knowledge on how the brain works and how brain-based behavior studies are conducted become available at all levels of the educational system. This exploratory approach is unique in the Swedish context as it will provide an increased understanding of what educational neuroscience can and, equally important, cannot contribute with concerning education.
This approach will also have the potential to spark inter – and multidisciplinary research projects, which will be beneficial for educational research.
The workshops will in addition provide momentum to an established network aiming to bridge the divide between educational neuroscience and research in the educational sciences.
