Purpose and goal: The project contributes to a sustainable construction sector and transition to a circular economy by having: - Strengthened companies´ competitiveness through inclusive innovation work - Valued real estate, reused products, new services - Measured reduction of environmental impact
- Raised social aspects based on Due Diligence, ESG & Taxonomin - Ensured quality of materials, technical, architectural, constructive solutions - Mapped the construction process for circular material flows, Återhusprocessen - Verified technical solutions & Återhus-process in pilot projects Expected results and effects:
The project results and effects are to create:
- An increased interest in the reuse of heavy building parts made of steel and concrete (more developers want to implement the reuse of building frames); - Conditions for circular business models; - Conditions for upscaling the reuse of heavy building parts, a market for circular products and materials;
- Conditions for sustainable funding;
- Significant reduction of the industry´s environmental impact caused by extraction of virgin materials and waste volumes; - Protection of biodiversity; - Social inclusion and sustainable cities Approach and implementation: "Återhus" is a collaborative project that has delivered results within 11 work packages in the following areas:
1. Technology and products (AP 4, 5, 6), 2. Business models (AP 2), 3. Infrastructure and production systems (AP 5, 6 ) 4. Policy and regulations (AP 3), 5. Culture and values (AP 1, 3 and 8).
The work packages have been based on needs and solutions according to the project´s system approach, leverage points to spark the industry´s transition.
Collaboration, an integrated and inclusive way of working and testing solutions in pilot projects have been keys to its success.
