Smart Fire Hydrant Caps

Purpose and goal:

In the project, a smart fire hydrant cap has been developed together with a private player and in collaboration with other water and sewerage companies. We have contributed to the knowledge of, and demand for, IoT in our industry. Expected results and effects:

In the project, a smart fire hydrant cap has been developed. The cap will be tested during November / December and a more comprehensive evaluation of the project´s results and effects should be done after this field trial (we are happy to supplement with this evaluation). Already now, through our project, we can see that several companies have opened their eyes to the fact of Water Organisations being interested in IoT and we see that we have helped to create a market.

Approach and implementation:

Planning and implementation have gone according to plan as we have been able to base the project on an innovation procurement and the development of a smart fire hydrant cap in collaboration with a private player. The only deviation is that the pilot project could not be carried out within the Vinnova time period due to delays in the delivery of the prototype. However, the field trial will be carried out in 2021.
