Grant Description

This research proposal deals with the study and development of new, stereoselective reactions using transition metals (iridium) as chiral catalysts.

The novelty lies not on the design and preparation of chiral ligands and catalysts, but is instead aimed at studying the factors underlying fundamental aspects of reactivity such as chemo- and regiospecificity.

The proposal builds mainly on evidence-based research and findings although some of the described projects have their origin in discoveries made serendipitously. The proposed research programme is divided in four sub-projects;Kinetic resolution of allylic alcohols and mono-hydrogenation of polyenesParallel multireductions and double asymmetric inductionStudy and development of enantioconvergent hydrogenationsCatalytic, in-situ olefin formation and asymmetric hydrogenation
