The Järva district located in northern Stockholm has been severely hit by the Corona pandemic. There are different perceptions of why, but Afro-Swedes have become extra vulnerable.
This project is based on the experiences of Afro-Swedes living in the Järva district and their varying living conditions.
In the study, twenty people are interviewed about their experiences of the corona pandemic on two different occasions during a 12 months period.
Their knowledge will be valuable when intiating discussions with authorities and other organizations working to meet the Corona crisis while the crisis is in progress.
It has been found that pre-existing inequalities based on gender, racialization and class create vulnerability to both being infected by the virus and dying in Covid-19.
It is therefore of the utmost importance to give people residing in the Järva area the opportunity to contribute to the knowledge of how this crisis should be managed under way and provide basic knowledge of how a similar situation can be prevented in the event of new crises.
