Back pain is a major health problem and socio-economic burden.
Evidencebased clinical guidelines for back pain have recently been developed for the Sweden and integrated into best practice model of care (MOC).
This was recently implemented in Östergötlands health care regions primary health care rehabilitation clinics which has improved compliance with clinical guidelines and improved patient outcomes.
These results need to be further validated with broader implementation strategy within Sweden’s south-eastern health care region 2021-2023.The overall aim is to validate the effectiveness and implementation process for a best praxis model of care for back pain (BetterBack MOC) compared to current routine care in Sweden’s south-eastern health care region clusters.
The specific trial objectives are:(A) To validate improved proportional of interventions coherent with clinical practice guidelines in broader settings. (B) To validate mechanisms of a multi-facetted and sustained implementation strategy in broader settings. (C) To validate improved patient reported changes in pain intensity, disability, quality of life and self-care enablement for managing their back pain as well as satisfaction the primary care interventions in broader settings. The hypothesis is that a multifaceted and sustainable implementation of the BetterBack MOC will result in greater health care practitioner compliance with health care interventions that may potentially be of great benefit to patients.
