Grant Description

The Gender Equality for Climate Change Opportunities (GECCO) project aims to enable women's leadership in climate change mitigation and adaptation through three streams of activities: 1) Development of climate change gender action plans (ccGAPs) in countries of overlapping high priority for USAID's gender and climate change and development objectives and host-government interests; 2) Implementation of activities that contribute to meeting national objectives of advancing gender equality through and for improved outcomes from climate change and development initiatives.

These activities will support the mutual objectives of USAID missions and host-governments; and 3) Convening of donor platforms at the national level to coordinate collaboration on ccGAP implementation for the purpose of increasing women's leadership in climate related sectors.

This activity will contribute to E3/GenDev's technical leadership on gender integration in climate change and development initiatives.

This activity will contribute to formulating USAID development goals by providing support to missions in reducing gender-equality gaps relevant to climate change and development projects with the aim of also increasing the effectiveness of missions in achieving climate change objectives.
