Grant Description

"Expanding Farm Advisory Services" is a sub-award under a Global Development Alliance (GDA) in partnership with the Skoll Foundation.

The local partner, Proximity Designs, will scale up its proven model for delivering farm advisory services to 28 townships over the next three years, reaching an estimated 250,000 farmers with increased incomes by $50 to $200 per farm household..The activity will reach townships in the Ayeyarwady and the Dry Zone, where 85 percent of farmers are located and will focus on the rice value chain.

Assistance will be used to develop new products and services such as farm business management, and weather and market information.

User-centered research will be conducted to apply innovative approaches to products, services and digital offerings, creating more opportunities to grow farm enterprises.

To achieve scale, the activity will move to a new multi-channel platform using mobile technology, agro-dealers, lead farmers, video, and radio.
