Grant Description

The objective of this project is to improve reading achievement in nearly 1,000 primary schools in Mtwara and Zanzibar.

The program was modified in 2013 to focus greater attention on learning materials and teacher training that would improve outcomes for grade one and two students.

Results have since exceeded expectations and a cost extension is now envisioned through March 2016 to deepen the reforms and expand the program to reach additional children.
