Grant Description

The objecgive of the program is to increase appreciation for democracy, good governance and human rights among Southeast Asian citizens, and to improve the quality of journalism in the region.

This program utilizes the experience and expertise of Indonesian organizations to improve the capacity of Southeast Asian media and journalists.

It also increases understanding of human rights and good governance among tens of millions of people in Southeast Asia as a result of the broadcast across the region of media content that promotes such values.

These two objectives are achieved by: strengthening a regional network of independent media, the Asia Calling Network; expanding the reach of theweekly Asia Calling radio program; introducing an Asia Calling television program; and conducting training for journalists associated with both programs.
