This four-year project, based in Addis Ababa and beginning in February 2011, builds the institutional capacity of government, trade associations, civil society and other stakeholders to improve Ethiopia's agricultural competiveness within Ethiopia; supports participation in CAADP (the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme) and other regional policy apparatus; and helps development partners track impact indicators critical to Ethiopian food security.
USAID-CIAFS is structured to be flexible and responsive to emerging issues and requests according to the evolving needs of stakeholders across the agriculture sector.
CIAFS work will draw upon a deep understanding of the country, knowledge of the issues facing grass-roots as well as more sophisticated agribusinesses, and relationships and contacts in relevant local, regional and international institutions. Building a cadre of well trained "agents of change" is a top priority.
