USAID's Legacy Program for Mongolia, the Government and Business Partnership for Growth has three components:1) Private Sector Business Enabling Environment Reform;2) Local Firm Competitiveness Strengthening via a USAID-created non-governmental organization; and3) Enhanced Government of Mongolia Capacity to engage in Public Private Partnerships. The Program builds on our past efforts, will help Mongolia stay on the market economy path, and is perfectly in line with the transition in the relationship between the United States and Mongolia from that of a donor-recipient to one based on commercial and economic partnerships.
It will build upon USAID's past efforts to promote economic reform and private sector-led growth.
It will provide technical assistance, grants, and training and promote coordinated efforts by the Mongolian Government and private sector to: - Improve the business enabling environment in reform areas, such as tax administration, trading across borders, arbitration and public private dialogue; - Increase competitiveness of Mongolian firms by supporting the long-term sustainability of a local, USAID-created organization, the Quality Supplier Development Center, that is building the capacity of local suppliers to provide products and services that meet market requirements, improve the efficiency of productive and commercial processes and link local suppliers to new markets; and - Build the capacity of the Government of Mongolia to effectively engage in and adopt international best practices in the development of public private partnerships.
