Grant Description

AgroInvest assists Ukraine to foster broad economic growth through a more inclusive and competitive agricultural sector.

The expected results of the project are: 1) A clear and stable policy environment that encourages agricultural investment; 2) Sustainable access to financial services for small and medium agricultural producers; and 3) More effective market infrastructure for small and medium producers.

In FY14 AgroInvest will support an improved enabling environment for agribusiness through deregulation, implementation of legislation related to the development of agriculture producer organizations, and drafting a national development program for the agriculture sector until 2020.

Significant focus will be placed on implementing a public information campaign and the provision of free legal aid to protect the land rights of small land owners.

The project will also assist the GOU to adopt legislation that will increase the capacity of credit unions to provide loans to small farmers.
