Grant Description

The USAID Uganda Strengthening Decentralization for Sustainability (SDS) Program is a six-year USAID-funded project that is at the core of an innovative strategy by USAID to improve the results of decentralization for delivering services to the community, particularly with regard to health, orphans and vulnerable children, and education.

From 2010 to 2016, Cardno will work closely with 35 district governments in Uganda to develop strategies that improve capacity for delivering services, provide institutional capacity building to district and local governments in core governance and management areas, and to provide performance-based grants that fund health and social sector activities, reward districts for progress made on agreed benchmarks, and promote innovative strategies to improve service delivery at the local government level.
