USAID's Liberian Teacher Training Program Phase Two is a five-year project is designed to utilize an integrated set of policy, support, and capacity building activities to address the critical shortages of qualified teachers and institutional capacity to produce new teachers. Ultimately, the goal of the project is to train teachers to be teacher trainers and prepare teachers to teach.
A parallel goal is to improve early grade reading and mathematics in Liberia.
The program will work to establish a functional teacher professional development system and strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Education to manage such a system.
