Cooperative Development Program (CDP) - Communications Cooperative International, 2010

Through this activity, Communications Cooperative International (CCI) seeks to improve access to telecommunications services by 'rural regions' of developing countries.

It accomplishes this task as follows: 1) CCI works with Governmental authorities to amend laws and regulations involving the telecommunications sector by allowing community telecom cooperatives to serve rural areas; 2) CCI, in select African countries, works with community telecom cooperatives to strengthen their technical and financial performance; 3) CCI~partners with Schlumberger's SEED (Schlumberger Excellence in Education Development) Foundation to improve access to computers used for teaching science and technology in secondary schools and 4) CCI works with other CDP partners in adapting distance learning to meet the needs of management and boards of directors of community telecom cooperatives.
