On 15 February 2009 during Chinese President Hu Jintao official visit to Tanzania, government officials signed a 150 million RMB (equal to about $21.95 million USD) grant agreement for multiple development projects.

Of this total amount, $4.4 million USD was allocated towards rehabilitating Zanzibar's State Broadcasting and TV programs (Record ID#1910). It is unclear how the rest of the grant was spent.
